                                                Ganapati: The lord of lords

Mangalamurti: The all auspicious Lord                Lambodara: One who has a big belly

Mahaganapati: The Supreme Lord,                     Siddhivinayaka: Bestower of success

Vigneshwara: Lord of all obstacles                     Vakratunda: One with a curved trunk

One god and more than 100 names for our ganpati baapa. Since childhood it has always remained the site of excitement for ganpati festival. It is one of the auspisicous festival celebrated by the hindus and I am a strong believer of Shree Ganesha. I get nostalgic when I look at my younger cousin brother's excitement for the holidays and disappointment with passing days till visarjan. I feel somewhere sad for today's generation because somewhere the enthusiasm has slowed down due to the rising inflation. Earlier we used to manage schools/exams with the festival but now kids do have holidays but somewhere people dont celebrate the festival with so much of enthusiasm. The main cause of this situation I personally feel is the rising stress level, we may fight with corruption, inflation, scams, social life, corporate life but stress is something which we are not able to cope up with. In the fast life of mumbai very few are able to adjust to the fast running life of Mumbai and who does not are thrown out of the league. We should not forget that we are Indians and here we celebrate our festivals more than the day culture(chocolate day - rose day). We have accepted a federal structure of the constitution and our preamble says WE, THE PEOPLE OF INDIA, having solemnly resolved to constitute India into a SOVEREIGN SOCIALIST SECULAR DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC country. But when we use such heavy words who has got time to follow it. I totally understand the situation of todays youth because even I am going through the same patch. The question arises in front of me where shall I concentrate family, work, personal life, social life???  There has to be an end to the stress somewhere.

I pray to Vighnaharta that somewhere this solution gets solved in coming future and give us the strength to handle peace. Coming back to my this year's exeperience it was delight with the daily dose of sweets - bhatachi khir, gulab jamuns, sevai and the vegies, dj, lights, family getogethers and the missing
enthusiasm :) On the day of visarjan it was fun, the morning of visarjan starts with a tight busy schedule for the elders at home.

We go to Juhu for ganpati's visarjan and again its a mini event organised till we come back home. But I was very disappointed with this years provision made by the BMC. There were no proper arrangements for solid waste as it was made for the previous year and even lots of ganesh murtis were lying on the beach shore. Even while immersing murtis it was a risky walk under the water , as all the murtis were lying on the sea bed.

So what we did was started collecting murtis lying on the sea bed and started to collect them at one place outside the seashore. so that it becomes easy for the BMC to collect the idols as well as the solid waste. In no time it gained momentum and everybody around started collecting the murtis and the result was this...

I have contributed my share of  not polluting the city..have you yet??? I make a humble request that next time  whenever you see something which you can make a change, plz dont hesitate to go further. Forget what is right and wrong. do what you feel like doing which would result into a good deed.

Thanks & Regards
